Pixelot is a HTML5 Canvas game that I started before going to University. When i first started it I spent a lot of time on it and after a couple of weeks it was already beginning to take shape. Unfortunately when I hit a brick wall I stopped development on it and I was too busy to carry on with it.
One day over easter (2 years later) I went back to it and started porting it to Socket.IO (A socket library for NodeJS). Originally it was using ajax requests which was a massive limitation. Once I got the game working with Socket.IO i saw the potential and got carried away developing more and more functionality.
The features now included in the game are:
- Realtime Multiplayer
- Game Maps / Tiles
- ServerSide Collision Detection
- Combat System (Magic Spells)
- Particle System ^^^^^^^^^^
- Realtime Messaging
- Inventory
- Interaction with Map Tiles. (Open Chest, Cut Tree, etc)
The game is actually live at http://www.pixelot.net so feel free to take a look.
I have become a bit busy again in recent weeks but now that I have finished university i’m sure I will be able to find enough time to keep this project going and my aim is to create a decent morpg running on HTML5.

Pixelot actually started about 3-4 years ago when i was in college and me and my friend decided to make a game with php & html. Looking back the result was horrendous but it was a good learning experience at a point when i was really getting into Web Development. Its amazing to see how the result is so much better after years of learning.
